Ad block IRL.
That blaring gas pump screen? There's usually an unlabeled button right next to it that mutes the ads.
Step by stepHow to find the mute button
- Look at the soft keys. Most pump screens have a column of small blank buttons on each side.
- Try the right side, second from the top. It's the button most often reported to mute Gas Station TV (GSTV) style screens.
- No luck? Try the others. Press each side button once, slowly. The pump can be laggy, so give it a second.
- Found it? Label it. Put a MUTE sticker next to it so the next person doesn't have to hunt.

๐ธ Spotted a pump?
Found a mutable pump, or stuck a MUTE label beside one? Post it with #adblockIRL and tag the station's city. That's it. No sign-up, no form.
AboutWhy this exists
Gas pumps started yelling at me, and then I found out most of them have a hidden mute button. I made some stickers so other people can find it too. That's the whole project: a small, friendly nudge to take back a few quiet minutes of your day.
Questions, a pump that won't mute, or a new IRL ad block idea? Email hello@adblockirl.com.
Be cool: use removable stickers, only put them beside the button, never cover screens, card readers, or safety labels, and respect station staff. If a manager asks you not to, don't.
